fonts displayed wrong in gvim

dbzhang@xjtu:~$ gvim a.c

** (gvim:5444): CRITICAL **: ascii_glyph_table_init: assertion
`gui.ascii_glyphs->num_glyphs == sizeof(ascii_chars)' failed

The line

#include <stdio.h>

is displayed as

#kpdnwef <uwekq.i>

This problem was appeared after updating my ubuntu7.04 to ubuntu7.10

and i found some other people alse encount this problem.

If I use other fonts instead of sans which was used by gvim default, the problem not appear.

This problem appealed in zh_CN.UTF-8 locale,

in en_US.UTF-8 locale no problem exist

Is this bug still happening?

I tried to reproduce it with Ubuntu-8.04 but I could not: vim worked fine for me when using locale zh_CN.UTF-8 in Ubuntu-8.04.
