Bug Description

Hello !

... I'd like to report the following anomaly I experienced :

1. Kubuntu 7.10 RC does not pilot the Marvell Youkon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabi Ethernet Controller installed in my Toshiba Laptop Tecra A40 (dhcp).
Neither in live mode nor installed distro mode. This also applied to 7.04 distro. I've tried to configure the card also manually with no positive result.

I've only noticed that the only kernel(?) able to pilot the card correctly (dhcp) was release 2.6.22.12. - 7.10 Beta release.

Even when updating the distro through apt, and upgrading to rlease 2.6.22.14 the laptop was unable to address internet correctly (dhcp) . It reports a crazy ip.

Hope to have be of some help and pls excuse my poor explaination, but i'm a new enthusiast to Linux. Not sure if it's relevant, but my laptop is in a dual-boot (xp)
configuration.

I you need more details, kindly gide me through. I'll be pleased to supply relevant Info.

Hi !

... I got it working by adding the noacpi parameter on the relevant
/boot/grub/menu.lst

f.eg as follows :

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-16-generic
root=UUID=406425ef-0b93-44d2-9954-341a3d7659e3 ro quiet splash pci=noacpi

Thanx for getting back on this. Hope I helped some.

Best Regards,

Max

PS: using Kubuntu 8.04 ... great !
