Kmail forgets which mail I was looking at

Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdepim

In Kmail when changing the status (top right corner selection-box) to look at "unread" mail and then going back to the "Any/Normal" selection Kmail doesn't go back to the mail I was looking at last, which I expected, nor does it open the latest mail, which also might have been a good default selection, but instead it goes back to the first mail in the mailbox, which was really unexpected.

I don't know if it matters but what I did was that I went from "Any/Normal" to "Unread" status, removed all "unread" mails and went back to "Any/Normal" status.

I'm using Feisty and have my mail on an IMAP-server. I'll gladly and promptly respond to any questions or requests for information that you might have.

Thank you for your bug report!

I think that before you removed the unread mail, you had to select them. Hence, the 'last read mail' was one of those unread messages. After you removed them, and went back to 'Any Status', there is nowhere to go back to since the 'last read message' was just removed.

I tried this on Gutsy and I think the above description could be correct.

Please feel free to re-open this bug (by assigning the status 'new' to it) if you feel that marking this bug as 'invalid' (which means 'Closed' in this case) is not the right action.

I will test this on Monday when I get to my work computer. However I don't think the bug report is "Invalid" since the mail selected is an unreasonable default choice. I'll agree to almost any other mail in the mailbox (or none) but to go to "the first mail ever received" after deleting the last of the unread mails I got? That's not a sane choice.
The "newest" mail would be fine. Or the previous one recieved to the one I was looking at (if I deleted it as you pointed out), or the next one (if there is one). But not "first message received" ever. That doesn't make any sense. From a users perspective that is.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
