Bug Description
Binary package hint: compiz
If maximized, new tabs open really slowly in terminal (in GNOME) with Compiz used. The first tab even causes terminal to temporarily freeze.
System:
Ubuntu Gutsy with recent patches applied, unmodified Compiz with Visual Effects set to Extra
P4 2.8 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM, GeForce 6800 128 MB

I am experiencing exactly the same problem. If the terminal (gnome-terminal) window is maximized, it redraws its content really slow. And if I open a new tab the terminal freezes, unmaximizing the terminal makes it work nomally. This repeats in the same way everytime I tried it.
I am running Ubunty Gutsy fully updated, with advanced Compiz visual effects. My machines is a Dell Inspiron 6400, Dual Core 1.7, with 1 GB of RAM and Intel Video.
Othe than this problem I haven't seen a slow graphical behavior in othe applications. As workaround I just work with the termina unmaximized.
