Bug Description

As opposed to #131615 and #151018 on my HP 8510p (ati mobile radeon X2600) backlight resets to full intensity after some minutes of dimmed operation.

Ambient sensor is ignored completely (I remember it worked 2 days ago).

Have all the latest updates installed.

Same happens to me with a fresh install of gutsy on a Dell inspiron 9400 / E1705. When running on AC power if I change my monitor brightness to some value near 50%, after a minute it automatically turns to 100% without "Dim display when idle" checked.

The Same thing happens to me. I am running a HP Pavilion dv9207us. When I am running AC Power my monitor gets really bright when left idle. It seems to be doing the opposite of what the dim feature does. The "Dim display when idle" is not checked or AC power..

Attached is a picture of what my power settings look like

I have made a video of what I think the problem might be or what it might be related to.

I have noticed that when the keyboard brightness keys are used to adjust the monitor's brightness gnome-power-manager settings doesnt seem to be aware of them.

Check out the video I have attached
