XChat falls out of the GNOME notification area

Bug Description

Binary package hint: xchat

After gnome-panel crashes and restarts, or if it's killed, the tray icon of XChat pops out into a separate window instead of returning to the default system tray. See the attached screenshot.

btw I'm talking about xchat 2.8.4-0ubuntu4~feisty1 in Feisty.

Thanks for reporting this issue. I am not sure this is a bug indeed (since gnome-panel dies).

it is a bug, because other programs manage to reattach to the panel when it restarts.

However, it seems like I can't reproduce that in Gutsy.
