Randomly repeating mousestrokes/keystrokes in Gutsy RC1 under KDE

Bug Description

Under KDE/Gutsy RC1 (current updates) I have randomly recurring keystrokes/mouseclicks. Not just keystrokes either, entire phrases I'm typing will be repeated an arbitrary (but usually large) number of times.

My computer is a Sony Vaio desktop, I switched out my keyboard just to make sure it was not a hardware issue, but no with it repeating entire phrases like that makes me think there is something hinky with the keybuffer.

Also and this may be related, whenever I mouse over any URL window the icon blinks like crazy, this might be related, or not.

If I can provide additional information, please ask, this is a nasty bug for someone who spends alot of time in a terminal window.

worse now, have to hold down each key till it shows up onscreen.
reinsttalling x/kde keyboard sstuff, hope like heck it works.

I have a similar issue. I don't get repeating of phrases, but I do get repeating of keystrokes. This is only under Gutsy; under Feisty it was similar. Sometimes a letter will repeat; sometimes the tab key will. Example of how this is annoying: alt + tab will get "stuck" and spin for 5-10 seconds; ctrl T in firefox will open a gazillion tabs. Etc.

It's a USB keyboard if that helps.

This may be related to #39315. I'm trying some of the workarounds mentioned there.

Have you seen the same problem in gutsy final release (or current gutsy as of 18 Aug 2008) or in hardy if you've upgraded?
