Workspace switcher ignores configured number of rows

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I had an 8x2 desktop layout (16 desktops in 2 rows), after upgrading to 7.10 all desktops are on one row, no matter what I configure in the workspace switcher preferences. I don't use any desktop effects (which seemed to cause similar problems for other people).

No, for a new user this works like a charm.

Any hints about how I can fix my configuration to make this work for existing users?

Do you use brightside?
If so, this could be the same bug as #147531.
It happens the same to me but it seems that it's caused by brightside. My workaround is to kill the brightside process (you should mark it to no-restart and remove it from the session manager), change again the number of rows and, if you want to, start brightside manually. The problem is that you should start brightside manually everytime you restart your computer.

Yes, I use brightside.

Thanks for the pointer, I'll try and see if I can fix the problem this way.

Ok, deactivating automatic brightside start in the session manager and a log out/log in cycle solved the problem, so really brightside seems to be the culprit here.
