Bug Description

Binary package hint: alsa-base

Hello,

I have different problem with the sound with gutsy. Alsa was working very fine with feisty but now I can heard the sound but I cannot have access to the micro. And so skype, wengophone, ekiga etc are not working.

When I'm trying to configure the micro in the sound preference I obtain this message:

gconfaudiosrc ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=chat

If you need other information I can try to provided them.

ps: I try to compile myself alsa (the last version from alsa website) but I obtain some problem with the kernel module.

Try installing linux-backports-modules to get ALSA 1.0.15.

If you've built and installed ALSA from tarball, then its likely you've messed up your kernel modules. You may have to remove and reinstall the kernel package.

I installed the package you told me and it's working but I still have the problem with the micro. It's not working anymore since the upgrade. Wengophone does have some error message like:

ALSA lib pcm.c:2106:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_empty.so
(error) 17:06:24 phapi: In phmedia-alsa.c, line 665:Cannot open pcm device alsa:IN=default OUT=default: Aucun fichier ou répertoire de ce type
[h263p @ 0x406760fc]rc buffer underflow

and I don't have any sound neither micro.

(I'm using the archive from wengo website and the same version were working fine with feisty)

With skype I can heard the sound but not use the micro.

Like I told before the upgrade it was working fine.
