Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

When I am watching a youtube video in firefox and it gets halfway through the video and then when I click a link firefox gets completely inactive(grayed out with everything disabled) and stays that way forever so I have to "Force Quit".

Here is some info that I grabbed out of the "about" in firefox.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20061201 Firefox/2.0.0.6 (Ubuntu-feisty)

Hmm, something similar happens to me. But I don't think it's a Firefox problem. It happens on most sites that have a lot of Flash stuff. I'll check tomorrow how it works in other browsers.

Shoor3r101: I assume you use the flashplugin-nonfree (adobe) flash plugin, right?

Sasa: if you can reproduce, can you see if using the latest flash plugin manually installed from adobe helps? Once you have tested that, please reassign to mozilla-bugs.

Thanks,

Hello,

I tested with the latest Flash plugin from the Adobe's site (9.0.48.0) on latest Firefox from the repository. I opened six videos and the Firefox took around 60 MB of memory. As I was closing tabs, the memory occupied by Firefox was getting larger. When I tried to close the last tab the Firefox grayed-out and I had to kill it. I took a screenshot. There is a system monitor applet in the upper-panel, the left one is for processor. There is no activity (except the most recent for a screenshot program). Also, it can be seen in the system monitor that Firefox occupied around 68 MB.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?

Hello. I have similar problem: visited youtube.com, it didn't responded. I had to kill firefox. And then all firefox interface and its functions become inactive: no home page, no bookmarks, no address in a bar. I tryed to completly remove firefox and all, that depends of it, rebooted and installed again. But it didn't help.
Addition informaion: I installed epiphany - it works well; deleted swfdec-mozilla, installed flashplugin-nonfree - no help; firefox error console has logs:
