Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Ubuntu 7.10 Desktop Beta - All updates applied
Open Office 2.3.0

No modifications or alterations from installation.

Saving templates is possible but when I try to open these again the OO Write crashes and then automatically recovers the (blank) document.

Steps:

File > New > Templates and Documents

Select Templates > My Templates ---- Crash & Auto Recovery.

The list of my saved templates do not appear prior to the crash

If I locate the templates via .openoffice.org2/user/template on the /home/user/ directory they load without a problem.

Does installing openoffice.org-base resolve the problem for you?

I saw somewhere that the problem comes with openoffice-gnome or openoffice-ubuntu, i disinstalled them and it's working great now

I have the same problem with openoffice.org-core 1:2.3.0-1-ubuntu5.3 in Ubuntu 7.10, all updates applied, openoffice base installed. OpenOffice used to work without problem beforehand, but after the 2.3.0-gnome-update opening templates always causes a crash in the described manner. When starting kde, opening templates is working fine. Deinstalling openoffice-gnome integration didn't change anything.

Removing the openoffice.org-gtk package fixes this problem.
However, you will loose all theme integration with your Gnome desktop.

I would guess that it is because the theme integration is looking for an image or file for the templates that doesn't exist.

I believe that this bug has been corrected in Ubuntu hardy openoffice.org 1:2.4.0~rc2-1ubuntu3 so I am marking it as Fix Released. If after upgrading you continue to have problems with this issue then feel free to reopen this bug.
