Gutsy LiveCD (desktop) won't boot - no CDROM detected

Bug Description

Binary package hint: udev

Gutsy LiveCD is unable to locate and mount CD but fallbacks to busybox instead. This bug seems to be very similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/143958 (which is supposed to be fixed). Both my hard drive and CD-ROM are SATA devices connected to Intel's ICH8 controller. They are properly detected by the kernel and I can mount them manually (CD drive is mapped to /dev/scd0). I will attach my casper.log but basically it says that
/init: /init: 1: cannot open /dev/sr0: No such file
Unable to find a medium containing a live file system

Feisty LiveCD used to boot with no problem on the same machine. Gutsy also runs fine after upgrading from Feisty (and not using it's LiveCD).
