Webalizer needs updating

Bug Description

Binary package hint: webalizer

Since apache2 is now the default apache version, webalizer still points to

/var/log/apache/access.log.1

as the default location for the log file, this should be changed to

/var/log/apache2/access.log.1

as the default for functionality 'out of the box'

Thanks for your bug report. I can not reproduce it in gutsy. Which version of ubuntu are you using ?
Does your installation have been upgraded from a former release ?

Changed in webalizer:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Incomplete

Sorry, looking into it, its a fault from debconf, in the file
'/var/cache/debconf/config.dat' there is the entry

Name: webalizer/logfile
Template: webalizer/logfile
Value: /var/log/apache/access.log.1
Owners: webalizer

Fresh install of Gutsy, both in i386 and amd64. Just converted my
home server from debian sid to kubuntu. Very minor, but could pull
some people up short.

Worked fine fine for me on a Hardy server install. /etc/webalizer/webalizer.conf has LogFile /var/log/apache2/access.log.1.

Thought interestingly, if I'm reading everything correctly, on Harder Server per /etc/cron.daily/webalizer, webalizer will run once a day. But per /etc/logrotate.d/apache2 the log is only rotated once a week. That seems kind of silly...

Perhaps the defaults should change and webalizer should use:
 LogFile /var/log/apache2/access.log
 Incremental yes

And maybe also:
 HideURL *.js
 HideURL *.css
 HideURL *favicon.ico

Since it's been a very long time since any additional info was added to this bug, I'm just checking to see if this is still an issue, and find out what additional work should be done on this bug.

Perhaps we should update webalizer to version 2.20.x?

I got "LogFile /var/log/apache2/access.log.1" in /etc/webalizer/webalizer.conf when I installed webalizer on karmic just now. Comment #2 seems to indicate this was in invalid bug report.

Changed in webalizer (Ubuntu):
status: Incomplete → Invalid
