Bug Description
Binary package hint: mount
In the read only environment is /etc/mtab symlink to /proc/mounts.
When trying to mount a share (example mount nfsserver:/share /mnt) mount fails complaining that it can not change permissions on /etc/mtab.
The correct behavior (at least how RHEL-4 seems to behave) is that mount should not attempt to modify mtab if symlink is detected (i.e should behave like mount -n).
Workaround: It is possible to use mount -n, but it is hard to apply with automounter
It was working it fiesty , but stopped working in Gutsy.

Same trouble here, rather annoying.
