Bug Description

I downloaded the CD for Gutsy Gibbon twice, fromn two different servers. In both cases, when I installed from the freshly burned cd, at the end of the installation grub did not install. When I rebooted, Ubuntu no longer existed.

I had to reinsall Feisty Fawn.

I know. I solved the problem by reinstalling Feisty Fawn and then
upgrading from Internet. But that did not solve the problem: why did
grub not get executed during the installation?

Did you use the Desktop or Alternate installer? Without log files from the installer or detailed information about your disks and partitions it will be impossible to find the reason for the failure.

I understand that. Well, I had to erase the partition and restart the
instllation for Feiste Fawn, so I cannot get the log files. But I used
the Desktop installer. I did not know there was an alternate one.

Thanks for answering, anyway. I did solve my problem already. I only
wanted to point the problem out, so that it coudl be fixed.

All the best,
  Jesuo.
