Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I am running Ubuntu 7.10

Go to System>Preferences>About Me.

Click the picture button to select a photo.

When the file chooser opens, click the No Image button.

Observe as ~/.face is set to an image.

I think there was a problem. This is the same .face file, renamed.

It is an svg image.

Thank you for your bug report. That's the standard icon and not an image, doesn't seem to be a bug

Changed in gnome-control-center:
assignee: nobody → desktop-bugs
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Invalid

Hi I'd just like to confirm that this behavior is really desired. After I click "No Image", my face is set to that icon. It doesn't just show up in the About Me menu. For instance, when I am unlocking my screen saver, that picture is there. That seems odd to me.

Why do you think that is wrong? The dialog displays the standard icon when no image is used, that looks correct

Before changing any About Me settings, the screen saver unlock dialog has no image at all. When I choose "No Image", a file called .face (which is an svg image, attached earlier) is created in my home directory, and it is used in the screen saver dialog. I have to delete /home/myuser/.face to really have no image again.

So the button labeled No Image actually causes an image to be created. It seems to me that it should delete /home/user/.face if present, not create it. Or that the button should say "Default" instead.
