By the way, I just upgraded to Gutsy when this started happening.

Do you have Compiz Fusion running?

If so, please try turning off Compiz Fusion then playing those files again.

I've been able to play these before in Gutsy. I just tried a video in VLC and if I open VLC and then File>open, the video loads and I can use keyboard commands but it is unresponsive to mouse clicks and when trying to close the program, it goes unresponsive and fades to black.
Will not play flvs in Firefox either (tried on youtube)
