Bug Description

Binary package hint: audacity

I am running Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 64-bit on a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop with AMD Turion64x2 CPU. My Audacity version is 1.3.3 beta which was in the Gutsy repositories.

When I select a section with the selection tool and then want to Trim or Export it, the selection dissapears. I couldn't find any way to fix this, so I had to install Audacity stable 1.2.6 for Feisty. Everything is working fine there.

I also forgot to say that my audacity configuration is the default one, I haven't changed anything.

Thanks for the bug report. I'm having trouble reproducing this with 1.3.3-1build1, running 64-bit on an AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU. I recorded a 5 second sample with the ALSA backend, and was able to select a portion of the recording and export.

Is your system a fresh install, or an upgrade from feisty? Also, could you describe the specific steps to reproduce the crash? It may require more than my test case exposed.

I have just done a clean install of Gutsy. Here are the steps:

1. File->Import->Audio...
2. home->guru->Music->Armand Van Helden - I want your soul.mp3
3. Left click on the "I" looking icon (Selection Tool)
4. Grab the gray double arrow at the 0 position (cursor changes shape) and drag it right to a certain part of the song
5. I try to click Edit->Trim or File->Export but they are both greyed out.

The double gray arrow is not the same as the selection region. Using the selection tool, click+drag over the waveform, not in the time bar. You'd have to read the docs to find out what the gray arrow thing is.
