Bug Description

Binary package hint: mplayer

Just to show the version and video output support, I'm pasting the results of "mplayer -vo help"...
I am currently running the x86 (server) version of 7.10

MPlayer 2:1.0~rc1-0ubuntu13 (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ (Family: 15, Model: 35, Stepping: 2)
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 1 3DNow2: 1 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1
Compiled with runtime CPU detection.
Available video output drivers:
xmga Matrox G200/G4x0/G550 overlay in X11 window (using /dev/mga_vid)
        mga Matrox G200/G4x0/G550 overlay (/dev/mga_vid)

        jpeg JPEG file
        gif89a animated GIF output
        tga Targa output
        pnm PPM/PGM/PGMYUV file
        md5sum md5sum of each frame

Under feisty, I had subsequently installed the svga libraries (on the off chance that some kind of missing
dependency was the reason that it was not listed) to no avail.

While I assume this will be filed as a wishlist item, it seems that it should carry a bit more weight than that.
I'm not saying this just because it's my pet bug or anything, rather, this has been an issue since (at least) feisty
and more importantly, the package description specifically lists it as an output option.

Was there a specific reason that svgalib output was excluded?

I'm currently working on merging our package with Debian and upgrading to 1.0rc2, and will fix this while I'm there.
