Bug Description

During a fresh install from Gutsy alternate CD, Partition Disks failed with the following message.

Assertion (part != NULL) at ../../libparted/disk.c:1435 in function _disk_raw_insert_after() failed.
A bug has been discovered!!! Ignore/Cancel/<Go Back>

I had selected the "Manual" option for partitioning. The table looked like as give below.
SCSI1(0,0,0) (sda) - 60.0 GB ATA FUJITSU MHV2060A
#1 primary 12.9 GB B K ntfs /media/sda1
#5 logical 31.9 GB K ntfs /media/sda5
#3 primary 15.2 GB K ext3 /media/sda3
   primary 8.2 MB FREE SPACE

I selected partition #3 and then "Resize the partition (currently 15.2 GB)

I could not save syslog then. Later I cleared all the partitions, repartitioned the disk and install went file. (Well, I could not install Gutsy desktop on my HP laptop using Live CD or Alternate CD but that's another issue)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
