Bug Description

I am using encrypted system (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EncryptedFilesystemHowto8 for details.)

I have upgraded from Feisty. By running Gutsy livecd, desktop effects are working fine. But when I try to enable them in encryptedd system, I get error that they cannot be enabled.

Some more info:
lspci | grep -i vga
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82915G/GV/910GL Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 04)

In /etc/X11/xorg.conf there is:

Section "Device"
 Identifier "Generic Video Card"
 Driver "vesa"
 BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
 Identifier "Generic Monitor"
 Option "DPMS"
 HorizSync 28-64
 VertRefresh 43-60
EndSection

Anyone else to help you identify problem?

Thank you for your bug report. I think you can't use desktop effects with the vesa driver, you should install a 3d driver for your card.

Hmm, why is that working in livecd then?

In fact - I am stupid.

I was playing with dpkg-reconfigure xsrver-xorg a long time ago and I set videocard vesa. In Gutsy Intel is supoorted and after reconfiguring it again, it is working like a charm :-)
