Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

Xubuntu 7.10 "Gutsy Gibbon"

- Set screensaver preferences to lock the screen on screensaver activity.
- Call unlock dialog (user input).

The unlock dialog shows the desktop content of the current logged in user.
In my opinion it should show a blank screen or some image beneath the unlock dialog.

Hi there
Does this happens when you have desktop effects activated?, if so, could you reproduce without the desktop effects enabled?.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your quick replay.

Yes, it seems to have something to do with the compositing.
I have XFCE'S compositing effects enabled and then it shows the desktop content on unlock dialog.
Disabling the compositing effects resolves the bug.

But it would be a pity if I had to disable the compositing feature just to secure the screensaver lock. :|

@Basilio Kublik:
Thanks for the info, I'll head over to bug 122549.

@Oliver Grawert:
Since Gutsy Gibbon, Xubuntu comes with gnome-screensaver pre-installed, not xscreensaver anymore.
