gutsy openoffice.org 2.3 spell checker does not work

Bug Description

It just pops up a dialog saying "Spellcheck is complete" with an ok button, even when there are obviously misspelled words in the document, and disappears. Am I doing something wrong?

Seconded. I believe it has something to do with language settings as I also had the same problem back in edgy.

Yeah, thanks - I didn't notice I forgot to add the package name until after I hit the irrevocable send. But that wiki was helpful for future reference.

I have seen it on my primary desktop machine as well as a laptop, so it isn't a one off thing. There are a number of openoffice.org related packages, but this is a good place to start. I think it was present in feisty as well, but I didn't have time to follow it up. The other fellow claims he noticed it in edgy as well.

I can confirm that this is was a problem for my Gutsy Gibbon Fresh installation.

Work around is to reinstall the dictionary.

Can be done by File >> Wizards >> Install new Dictionaries

Select your language and pick the Dictionary and it should download it and install it (make sure you tell it to replace ones that you already have installed). It should download it and install it for you.

If you want to have this apply to all users you have to do it for each user or open openoffice with

sudo ooffice

Then follow the same instructions.
