Bug Description

Binary package hint: system-config-printer

the canon pixma mp 170 is not supported or arriving to the list...

default canon models available. cannot select another driver to print test page

receive following error:

E [31/Oct/2007:07:54:21 +0200] [cups-driverd] Unable to open PPD directory "/opt/share/ppd": No such file or directory

According to openprinting.org these drivers should work with the Canon Pixma MP170:
http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-PIXMA_MP170 (select MP150 and open source gutenprint driver)
http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-PIXMA_MP160_descargar_drivers (closed source driver provided by Canon)

Please report back which driver you used.

Not a system-config-printer issue, gutenprint needs to support this printer.

There is a working driver for MP170 in Lucid (and possibly some earlier versions, too). Should this bug be closed?
