Strangely, I don't see any source code patch on that page, so they appear to be violating the GPL.

Yes, I'm not saying that GPSBabel's source isn't available, the source patch for the WBT-201 thing doesn't exist, only patched binaries.

GPSBabel is under the GPL, so the WBT-201 patch is violating this by not providing the source for the patch.

Looking at this more, I notice that 1.3.4 has WBT-201 support. That's fine then.

@Bruce - indeed gpsbabel 1.3.4 supportes WBT 201. Any chance for backporting to gutsy? Would be VERY much appreciated!

I'll add it to my unofficial PPA backport waiting list.

I upgraded to Hardy Alpha and strangely 1.3.4 is not included there either. ( http://www.gpsbabel.org/news/20070806.html ). I will raise this as a separate request, not to be confused with the gutsy backport (which for me takes lower priority as I'm on hardy now)

The last package of GPSBabel is from June, so I expect the Debian maintainer has forgotten / left. See http://packages.qa.debian.org/g/gpsbabel.html

Thanks for the update, Bruce; what are the next steps I can take to encourage upstream or ubuntu packagers to pick this latest version up?

Since 1.3.4 is not in Hardy yet, I'm going to mark this backport request invalid. Once it's in Hardy, please open a backport request and I'd be more than happy to look at it.

John, 1.3.4 has been available upstream for some time. Any chance of including it in hardy at all? (or hardy-backports if too late for FeatureFreeze for Hardy?
