Bug Description
Binary package hint: acpi
I just changed to gutsy on my Acer TravelMate 292LCi (BIOS v2.00 (latest)). It is a new installation, but i was using feisty on the same hardware already.
Suspend/Resume used to work ok on this hardware, but sometimes i got a notification message that there was a suspend problem. I also had to restart the computer sometimes after resume because the network wouldn't come back up properly again (and "sudo /etc/init.
After upgrading to gutsy, however, the computer won't even suspend any more. The screen goes blank, then the fan goes up to full speed for a while, but it never suspends completely. Then, when i reboot, my USB keyboard will not work in grub. So i have to turn of the computer and unplug the battery and AC adapter before i reconnect the power and restart the computer.
I have discovered that the problem will be different if i kill skype before i suspend the computer. If i do that, the computer will suspend and resume. The problem is instead that the screen does not update anymore. However, I can make the icons on my desktop visible if i move the mouse over them.
Best regards,
Hans Elfberg
Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?
