Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.7 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I'll try but on the link provided, I do not see any .deb packages .

The page on wiki.ubuntu.com explain how to install manually only with
.deb packages. Can you give me little help here please ?

BlackDalek (dalekky), it will help immensely if you filed a new report with the Ubuntu repository kernel (not mainline/upstream) via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

Christopher. I removed myself from the "affects me" list. Was not a bug. In the case of my Acer Aspire the issue was caused by incorrect settings in the BIOS for touch pad legacy support.

Didn't seem to be any option to change bug status back to "expired", so I changed it to "invalid".

I suspect the original reporter's "bug" was also caused by the same incorrect BIOS setting, given that it is a very similar model to mine.

BlackDalek, this isn't Invalid as defined in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status as the original reporter hasn't advised this issue is resolved for them.
