Notification area visual breakage

Thank you for your bug. Do you have an easy way to trigger the issue?

Yes, I just figured it out right now.
It happens when a tooltip (say, from the date/time applet) partly obscures the notification area. When the tooltip goes away, the bug occurs.
Also, it doesn't seem to happen to any notification icons other than amarok's.

I just checked and it also happens to kopete's notification icon. Maybe this is caused by the fact that a GTK tooltip is obscuring KDE icons.

I can confirm this is happening as well. 32bit Gutsy.

This also happens to me (32bit Gutsy). It seems to only happen with KDE applications. I've noticed it with KAlarm and Amarok.

I can reproduce by right-clicking just to the left of the notification area to get the Panel context menu.

Though this bug doesn't impact functionality, it is an extremely visible flaw. I don't think it should be low priority. What does it say about an operating system when it can't even re-draw part of the screen properly?

I noticed this also happening with aMule.
Don't think it's such a bit deal though.

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. Seems good in Hardy. The same notification icons that don't get redrawn in Gutsy now get redrawn immediately when they are no longer obscured. The redraw is noticeable though, so you may see the amarok notification icon flash for a moment while others (eg gnome icons) do not.
