Bug Description

I'm using FF 2.0.0.8+2nobinonly-0ubuntu1 on Gutsy.

I had the FF serach box set to Ubuntu package search, still from a previous search a day earlier. Then I wanted to search for something on google. After typing in the terms, I wanted to switch the box to use google, but it didn't react at all.

I restarted Firefox. Now all the search engines were gone, just the default icon was there. When I clicked it and chose "Manage search engines", the list was empty and I could not do anything there, no button would react.

I exited FF again, cd'ed to .mozilla/firefox/<random>, and did "rm -search.rdf search.sqlite searchplugins/*", then restarted FF. Now the default list of search engines is there again when I click the search box's icon, but none of them work, and "Manager search engines" is still non-functional.

Please let me know if I can do anything to help debugging this.

Hm, after deleting .mozilla, it worked again. I kept the corrupt profile directory, in case anyone wants to see some files from there.

Did you ever install a search plugin manually?

Indeed, a translation plugin for leo.org (but I don't know which, I couldn't find the same one when I tried to reinstall after the corruption) and German Wikipedia. Though I have used those for years w/o other ill effects AFAICT.

would be cool if you could attach your .mozilla/ directory. Not sure which files i would need in case you don't want to attach all because of privacy issues.

Hm, I can't reproduce that at all anymore, even with the old directory. Better to close this report I guess :(

This bug is fixed. please open a new one - even if you think that you
are seeing the same issue - and describe your problem in verbose mode.
For example, attach screenshots and instructions to reproduce if
possible/applicable.
