nvidia dual monitors broken after update

Bug Description

After weeks of happily chugging along I made the gigantic mistake of actually allowing you guys to update me again. I get burned by every single one of these. They always break something.

So the new trick is the nvidia drivers. I was using Xinerama with dual monitors and going along happily. After the update I rebooted and now everything says there is no second monitor. I have a dual head dvi-out nvidia 8800.

When launching X i get the error "unable to find available display devices for screen 1." Running nvidia-settings shows no second monitor even being detected. Everything I try uniformly tells me there is no second monitor.

I've been really patient with these updates, but I'm about at the end of my patience. Updates should not consistently break the OS.
