Bug Description
Binary package hint: kpilot
Fresh 7.10 Kubuntu Gutsy installation, installed kpilot with apt-get.
Palm Zire 71 which previously worked with serial cradle in Kubuntu 7.04 on this machine.
Installed kpilot, put Zire71 in serial cradle, started kpilot, ran connection wizard, aimed kpilot at /dev/ttyS0, at which point kpilot dependably crashes with no trace info or error messages. Same symptoms starting from menu or command line.
Repeated with USB cradle, but visor module is not loaded and udev does not respond. Modified 60-symlinks.rules according to
http://
and manually modprobed visor module.
Pressing Hotsync button now causes USB detection and /dev/pilot is created, but kpilot crashes as with the serial cradle.
Problems:
Visor module not automagically loaded
Udev rules do not work with Zire71
In any event, kpilot cannot proceed after detecting (at least) the Zire 71 with either serial or USB connections.
With the USB cradle, using [pilot-xfer -p /dev/pilot -l] and [pilot-xfer -p /dev/pilot -b Zire71] seem to work fine.
This is, unfortunately, a showstopper bug for me: I -must- be able to sync that PDA!
What other information can I provide?
Just updating some old bugs. Do you still see this bug in newer versions of Kubuntu? If so could you let us know what is the newest version of Kubuntu and kpilot that shows this bug.
thanks,
Rich
