Bug Description
Binary package hint: apt
7.10, fresh install from desktop i386 CD, all updates through Nov 18 applied, 1.3GHz Athlon XP 1500+, abit NF7II board, 1GB ram. No other software installed.
Using the GUI and Synaptic, I added the repository deb http://
(you see that this is malformed with a comma after pculture and no / after gutsy). After clicking on the Reload whirl, I got an error message saying I had a malformed entry, and the only option was to close the error box. But this also closed Synaptic. I tried reopening Synaptic a couple of times and each time the same error box came up immediately and prevented me from removing or correcting the bad entry.
(I finally opened a terminal window and edited /etc/apt/
I feel that the program logic before and/or after the error message should be changed so that correction could be effected without leaving Synaptic.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? I tried to reproduce this using Xubuntu 8.04.1, but was able to make the changes in Synaptic Package Manager.
