i couldn't really understand what you're talking about, but since it has to do with desktop effects, i'll presume it's compiz, maybe you could provide a screencast to demonstrate this issue.

Compiz seems like a good place for it, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to put in that field.

I tried to repeat what I did and I'm not getting the same results, although I'm not entirly sure what it is I did.

I'd send you a screencast but I don't know how to on ubuntu. Wikipedia says open GL can do it, but it doesnt say how...

when you said that you're not getting the same results, do you mean that the issue isn't reproducible or that there's more ways to trigger the crash?.
