Also here on the latest KDE4 RC2 packages from kubuntu.org.
Problem isn't solved by (re)installing kdm-kde4 or kdm, dunno what to do to fix it, debug output (on level 10) doesn't give very much results :P

Maarten kdm-kde4 wasn't updated with kde 4.0rc2 for kubuntu so this why the problem is still here.
As you can see version is still 3.96.0-1ubuntu4

@Cimmo: Ah yes, I see what you mean. The older version is the only one available in that repository.

OK, found some problems. The /etc/kde4/kdm directory is empty except for kdm.options, and I can't reinstall kdm from kde 3. I get the same error message after uninstalling and reinstalling kdm from kde 3, though the actual error may be different. Also, doing a dpkg --purge kdm-kde4 doesn't remove kdm-kde4 from the list when doing a dpkg-reconfigure against gdm.

The newest ruby for kde 4.1 just released fails to install, now I cannot get the update needed message to quit. I have tried several ways to fix broken package and above error message is encountered. It seems as if kde update worked except for the ruby bindings for kde.
