Pressing Install in Software Center does nothing when installing deb file

Bug Description

Pressing on Install button does nothing

Steps to recreate:

- Download a deb file (e.g. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steam.deb or https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=760868)
- Open it (standard program to open a deb file is Ubuntu Software)
- Press on Install
- Nothing happens

I don't think this is a duplicate. As I said here, pressing install does absolutely nothing. In the other bug report - that I've read before posting this one - Ubuntu Software throws an error. If you still think this is a duplicate, thats fine; as long as it gets fixed soon.

I agree with Mattia. I am trying to install a .deb from http://mein-neues-blog.de/xplanetFX/, and when it opens in Software, pressing the Install button does nothing. No error message is popped up. This is not what is described in bug 1672424.

Same here. I cannot install VSCode. Ubuntu software opens the deb but the "Install" button does nothing.
