Bug Description

The gnome-screenshot utility doesn't handle multiple monitors
(using Ximerama) correctly. It creates a .png of the correct
dimensions, but only captures the contents of a single
montior, and some of the other. This is what it captured of
my desktop:

here's what my desktop really looks like:

I have an asymetric setup, with 1024x768 on the left monitor,
and 1280x1024 on the right montior (a 17" crt and 17" lcd
respectively). The gfx card is a geforce 6600GT, using the
nvidia binary drivers.

This is an amd64 machine, running hoary, uptodate as of today.

There's a fix to this in Debian Stable (and other versions I think, as its
always worked on other debian versions)

The Ubuntu package is based on the Debian one and there is no patch for that feature

Maybe the difference between Debian and Ubuntu is some change wrt to xorg?

Do you have the issue with Ubuntu 5.10? That could be a Build-Depends difference
with Debian...

Sorry for the delay, took me ages to get a chance to install breezy on this machine.
Anyway, short answer is, same bug still exists. Here's a fresh screenshot, from
breezy:

Just to confirm, this is still present in 6.06 LTS (Gnome 2.14.2). I have added a comment to the upstream bug report. Maybe someone from the Ubuntu team feels like patching with code from the GIMP? ;-)

I can confirm it with edgy beta. There's another upstream bug open: #352379

I'm not experiencing this bug any more with my current ubuntu feisty installation. But then again, I changed my graphics card from mga550 to nvidia fx5200 with proprietary drivers since I last tested.

Can someone else confirm either way?

I can confirm this on Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 with a standard 2 monitor setup. Only the leftmost monitor makes it into the final screenshot. I'm using the proprietary NVIDIA drivers version 100.14.11 on a GeForce 8600 GTS.

This bug is no longer an issue in 8.10 or 8.04.1. I use dual monitors with nvidia binary driver version 177. I am attaching a screenshot as proof and marking this bug Fix Released.
