Closing the bug as invalid as the extension was forced by the user, using a mix of artful + GNOME 3 ppa, so the dock was running twice…

Even if it's invalid, maybe it helps someone. After upgrade to 17.10, the transition from Unity to GNOME was not very smooth, as I had used Ubuntu-GNOME before as well, some GNOME shell extensions installed locally, and customized a bit. So the whole experience was a mess, to be honest.

What helped me most, was:
1. Uninstall ALL additional shell extensions using https://extensions.gnome.org/local/
2. reset GNOME shell completely to it's defaults using a terminal and calling: "dconf reset -f /org/gnome/shell/"

Beare - this will remove ALL customizations of the gnome shell and revert it to its standards. But 2 seconds later everything worked again als intended.
