Merge objects

Bug Description

Can you merge two objects (of path nodes) which overlap so the nodes are
re-drawn around the parts which don't overlap? For example, I want to take
one rectangle facing one way, another one perpendicular, overlap them, and
have the program re-draw the nodes as a plus sign. This would help with
making unusual shapes, especially if you want an outline around the shape
or you want to edit the nodes of that shape as a whole.

If you can already do this, please respond.

i think (from your description) that you are thinking of a union
operation. (path>union)
