Pidgin with jabber plugin doesn't handle special-signs like § in the password.

Bug Description

If you take a § sign in your password and try to connect you will always get an "Authentication failed" error. The same password tested with Gajim works correctly so it has to be a problem with Jabber and how to handle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO/IEC_8859-1 signs.

I can reproduce this with hardy, pidgin 1:2.2.2-1ubuntu1. I created an account on my ejabberd via ssh, the password works with gajim but not with pidgin.

Changed in pidgin:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Triaged
