Hi!

I also have problem with my CK804 in Kubuntu .10 runing kernel 2.6.22-14-generic.
For me, the analogue out works well but the SPDIF does not work.

When I run a gentoo-installation on very same hardware it works nice. In the gentoo kernel settings I have the snd_intel8x0 compiled into the kernel and not as module although I don't think it makes the difference. It have worked for several years in gentoo and is still working in kernel 6.23 so it I suppose must be either a patch or some other settings that disturbs.

I have the powersaving of AC97 disabled in my gentoo which is enabled in the ubuntu-config. Will try to compile a kernel and disable this. Used to gentoo but a newbie to building and installing kernels using the apt-system :)

I also have this problem with the same hardware, have been trying on and off for weeks to solve it but it seems there is no solution. Hope it gets fixed soon.

Ok, actually I can have sound BUT only through the surround output, with "Surround jack mode" set to "shared" and "Duplicate front" set to "On"

I'm using a DFI Lanparty UT SLI-DR motherboard which uses CK804. I have sound working in the front left and right channels, but I can't get anything from the Center or Rear channels.

Hi!

I have now realized that the problem was the complexity of alsamixer and kmix. Some settings cannot be set from the kmix but must be set using the text-based alsamixer. When I unmuted the IEC958 in alsamixer and fiddled with the volumes for a while I managed to get the sound working properly.

Boris: If this issue still exists for you in the Hardy Heron 8.04 LTS release, could you please test with the Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha 2 Live CD, which is scheduled for release today.. It will appear at the following when available: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha2 . It contains the actively developed 2.6.26 Ubuntu kernel. If this issue still exists in the Live CD, then please include the appropriate debugging information as outlined at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems, and set the 'linux' task status back to 'New'. You can do this by clicking on the current status in the yellow line, and selecting 'New' from the drop-down box which appears. Thanks in advance.
