Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Hi,
I'm fairly new to linux in general. I currently have ubuntu 7.04 and am trying to upgrade to 7.10 via the instructions on http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading.

I can not seem to reach the 'Update Manager - new distribution release 7.10 is available' stage because I receive the following error when trying to complete the upgrade of my current 7.04 installation:

http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/dists/gutsy/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz: 404 Not Found
http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/dists/gutsy/restricted/binary-i386/Packages.gz: 404 Not Found
http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/dists/gutsy/universe/binary-i386/Packages.gz: 404 Not Found
http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/dists/gutsy/multiverse/binary-i386/Packages.gz: 404 Not Found

Is there a way to correct or bypass this error so I may proceed to actual 7.10 installation? Perhaps a command line method?

Thanks for any guidance,
David Raftus

An update - after reviewing another bug in this list, saw a reference to checking the /etc/apt/services.list file. Mine contained:
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu gutsy main restricted
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ feisty universe multiverse
deb http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports gutsy main restricted universe multiverse

I changed 'gutsy' to 'feisty' in line 1, and removed line 3. My update manager no longer reports errors, but I still do not get the 'Update Manager - new distribution release 7.10 is available' message. So, still stuck regarding actually upgrading to 7.10.
