Bug Description

On the Kubuntu Hardy Alpha 1 live CD, when I try to open the monitor&display configuration window from System Settings, the following occurs:

When I click "Administrator mode", an error box pops up and says "Command not found!" and the window's border does not change to red.

No configuration files have changed by me, and the only non-default thing installed is Firefox.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in kdebase.

I can confirm this on my dell latitude d510 laptop. I have recently reinstalled kubuntu form the latest daily build cd.
Also (may be it is a different bug) kcontrol is empty (no entries).

Actually it seem that I cannot go into administrator mode anywhere in the System Settings.

It looks to me like this may be related/duplicate of Bug #173319. I just tried downloading what I think is the latest build (new at this, so I have a lot to learn still), and the problem is evident.

I'm not sure it is a duplicate of bug 173319. I have tested alpha2 live CD,
on d800 and d630, and get:

"The module Monitor & Display could not be loaded.

The diagnostic is:
Library files for "libpython2.5so" not found in paths

etc..."

So this seems unrelated to kdesu

I can confirm the "libpython2.5so not found in paths" bug still appearing in Hardy Alpha 3.
