Bug Description

Binary package hint: enigmail

For reproducing you need an encrypted mail in a folder and a gpg with passphrase.

1. Activate passphrase remembering using the OpenPGP->Preferences dialog.
2. Open an encrypted email, you are asked for the passphrase.
3. Open another email and the encrypted one again and you are asked for your passphrase again.
-> The passphrase is not remembered.

Same bug on my system: if I receive an email, which is signed, encrypted and has one attachment, the password dialog box appears three time for one mail.

I upgraded from dapper to hardy. Ubuntu 8.04, Thunderbird 2.0.0.14, Enigmail 0.95.6

I had the same problem and fixed it thus.

System > Preferences > Encryption and Keyrings > PGP Passphrases

Then set "Remember passphrase for xxx minutes" and this, in my case, resolved the problem.

If the above doesnt work please mv your profile and start with a clean
profile see if it works than. Also disable any extensions or addons you
have other than enigmail.

Hi,

Thank you! This works. I only looked at the Thunderbird-menu -> OpenPGP -> Settings: "rember password for ... minutes". This setting had no effect.

Florian,
IS this still an issue for you? I am unable to reproduce this in Hardy
Thunderbird version 2.0.0.14 Im gonna assume sinc eyou havent commented
on the bug that you found the same feature that pabio88 did and im
closing this bug. Please reopen it if neither the setting nor the moving
of the profile fixes this for you.

Pabio88,
Your problem wasnt a bug it is a feature as you found out.

Hi John,

sorry, I didn't write the solution.

I changed the settings under System > Preferences > Encryption and Keyrings > PGP Passphrases. The default selection was the first item "Kennwörter nie merken" ("do not remember passwords").

Regards,
Ralf
