fast-user-switch-applet doesn't work correctly with enabled desktop effects

Bug Description

fast-user-switch-applet doesn't work correctly with enabled desktop effects. When I'm trying to change user, after clicking on it (on another user) the blank (white) screen appears and nothing happens. Howewer, passwork is typeable, so if you will type password "in blind" white screen dissapears and all will be proceed normally. Time after time it swithces normally, but most of tries is buggy.

Thanks for your report, Which version of Ubuntu and Fast user switch applet are you using? This is only reproducible while using the visual effects, right? did you try without them? Which video card do you have?

With desktop effects enabled I also see a white screen on two different PCs when switching back. Also the other users is missing with version 2.22.0 so I can't just switch fast, but have to use the exit screen to change user.
I am using hardy heron: uname -a: Linux elisabeth-desktop 2.6.24-17-generic #1 SMP Thu May 1 14:31:33 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

desktop effects are enabled with emerald --replace.
