Bug Description

Binary package hint: binutils

Running Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10):

I am trying to build the minimyth distribution from www.linpvr.org. This uses the GAR build system. I.e. It will download and compile the entire system starting from the ground up. It builds gcc, binutils... and then continues to build the entire system. When the build reaches the build of binutils (one of the first steps), the build crashes with a segmetation fault every time at the same point. This happens during a `make' of binutils (2.18 - which is the same version as used by Gutsy). From what I can see, there are no patches that are applied to binutils, and the ./configure string from config.log was:

  $ ./configure --prefix=/var/lib/mythtv/svnroot/minimyth/gar-minimyth/images/build/usr \

I have reported the issue on the minimyth forum, but no-one has seen this or can repeat the issue.

Unfortunately, I can repeat this every time :(

Not sure if this is of any help to anyone. I have built binutils with the nostrip option and installed libc6-dbg. Attached is a full backtrace of the core.
