Bug Description

Probably all x86-based platforms only, but testsuites such as version and help (so very very basic ones) started failing with:

version FAIL stderr: /sys/firmware/dmi/tables/smbios_entry_point: Permission denied

Example log can be seen here:

Something seems to have changed in the lower-level parts of the system (kernel?) in cosmic that's causing pyparted to spout out this error whenever it's imported. I have filled in a bug for tracking this:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pyparted/+bug/1776465

For now, since it doesn't seem to have any real effect on pyparted (since otherwise our partition unit tests would be failing, since those are run as non-root), I will be temporarily working around it in ubuntu-image.
