Bug Description

Binary package hint: libxine1

When xine is the default DVD player and you put a commercial DVD into the drive the libdvdcss2 library isn't run. The video is choppy and it is like watching a DVD without libdvdcss2 installed. Running from the command line it produced the following output:-

~$ xine
This is xine (X11 gui) - a free video player v0.99.5.
(c) 2000-2007 The xine Team.

Capturing the output from the command in the "Removable Drives and Media" panel with the following:-

ine %m > ~/Documents/xine.txt &2> ¬/Docuemts/xone1.txt

produced nothing.

According to your screen output, libdvdcss *is* being used. This means the bug title is clearly wrong

Does this happen with any DVD or only with some? Can someone confirm this problem (my laptop has no optical drive)?

The tittle is correct. When you put a disk in to the drive and xine starts up automatically, it produces choppy video as if libdcss2 isn't installed. Capturing the command Removable Drives and Media pannel gives no output indicating that libdecss isn't being used when a disk is inserted. If the disk is inserted and xine is started from the command line afterwards it works fine. It also plays home made DVD's fine, although it doesn't go into the menu for them.
