Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-base

Hardy alpha 2: OpenOffice.org Base claims to depend on libhsqldb-java >= 1.8.0.8-1, but complains of “unresolvable dependency” even when libhsqldb-java 1.8.0.9-2 is installed.

I've solved this problem installing openoffice.org-core and -common with the option -t hardy:
apt-get install -thardy openoffice.org-core openoffice.org-common

Not sure what you meant; here's the result of what I tried:

chesky@maxwell:~$ sudo apt-get install -thardy openoffice.org-core openoffice.org-common
[sudo] password for chesky:

openoffice.org-core is already the newest version.
openoffice.org-common is already the newest version.
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  xulrunner-1.9-dom-inspector xulrunner-1.9-gnome-support
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
openoffice.org-base: Depends: libhsqldb-java (>= 1.8.0.8-1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
chesky@maxwell:~$

Hi,
The workaround is to install the OpenOffice suite but not openoffice.org-base which is unused.
