Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

When I close the laptop lid on my laptop (Compal CL56 rebrand), the external monitor is blanked out as well as the LVDS panel.

Surely, this is not correct behaviour. It makes it impossible for me to put the laptop away when it's hooked up to an external monitor, mouse and keyboard.

I'm attaching details of my setup.

Thanks for your bug reports. There have been some changes upstream that might fix this problem. Can you please try a test package from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XorgOnTheEdge and report if anything is changed to better or worse?

There is also a new "IgnoreLidStatus" option, see man radeon.
