Bug Description
Binary package hint: xorg
Steps:
1) Log in, screen resolution is wrong and the right one is not available, current is 1400x1050, should be 1680x1050. (read notes also).
2) Modify xorg.conf
3) Restart xorg and use the correct resolution
4) Reboot or shutdown
5) The next boot xorg.conf gets overwritten (with a backup as xorg.conf.1) and resolution settings are wrong again.
What should Happen:
1) Xorg should not overwrite xorg.conf
2) Xorg should generate new xorg.conf only if it doesn't exist.
Relevant Hardware
* Monitor: Samsung 206bw, that can do 1680x1050@67hz
* Video: Nvidia GeForce 5200
Software versions:
* Ubuntu 7.10
* xorg: 1:7.2-5ubuntu1
* nvidia-glx-new: 100.14.
* Kernel: 2.6.22-14-generic
Notes:
* My monitor is listed under the displayconfig-gtk models, however resolutions are incorrect, maximum resolution is not available, only 1600x1200 which is not supported by this monitor.
* Severity is High, ubuntu is not usable if I have to manually overwrite xorg.conf and restart X each time I boot the machine.

I had this problem after updating the Nvidia driver 100.14.19 with the latest 169.07 ,,
i have the same versions ,, my card is GeForce 6200LE PCI-e ,, in order to correct this i have to reinstall the Driver each time i boot up (the 100.14.19 version ) ,, is there anyone who confirm that ,, because i'm thinking about installing the 7.04 instead of 7.10 with the older drivers ..
